As I was sorting out my own house this week, I came across some timely advice from Travel & Leisure Asia magazine for the globe-trotting techie.

1.  Avoid data-overage charges when roaming overseas with the free Telicost-Lite app for androids, Blackberry and iphone, which monitors your phone and alerts you as you approach your plan limit.

2.  If you’re a last-minute packer and forget to throw that must-have doc on your jump drive, there’s still hope: TeamViewer Host (free) for Mac lets you remotely access your Apple computer and edit files from anywhere…as long as you have an Internet connection.
